The Chamwell Centre Charity is seeking donations to help us to fund our core service of fully accessible hydro pool sessions for children and adults with disabilities and additional needs in Gloucestershire.

Our core service is fully accessible hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy offers many benefits for people with disability and additional needs, those recovering from injury or have mobility or movement issues. Frailty, the older generation, and those in pain. The pool offers a relaxing sensory experiencefor adults & children with special needs; autism, neurodiverse - it’s safeplace for them and their families.

The15-metre hydrotherapy pool is heated at 34-36 degrees and has a maximum depth of 1.35 metres. It is aided by an overhead hoist from anextensive assisted changing room which has multiple changing beds with individual showers for those who are non-ambulant.

It costs £182 for the charity to host a hydro pool session for one hour. With a small contribution from each person using the pool, a cost of £98 per hour remains for the charity to cover. The Chamwell Centre Charity fundraises to subsidise sessions so to keep costs as low as possible for our community.

The Chamwell Centre Charity hosts 119 hours of fully accessible hydrotherapy for its community of children and adults with disabilities &additional in the county needs per month, pro rata. Additionally, to this we meet the therapeutic needs of 320 pupils with complex care needs from The Milestone Special Needs School during school hours.

Please would your company or group consider supporting us by making a donation for a hydro pool session on regular basis or as a one off?

If can make a 'splashing' difference please let me know, I hope to hear from you.

Cader Idris Mountain Race

Ras y Gader, the Cader Idris mountain race, one of the toughest fell races in Wales, and viewed by many as a classic "must do" race. The event starts and finishes in the market town of Dolgellau, at sea level, and climbs almost 3000ft to the summit of Pen y Gader itself. One of the real challenges of the race is the constantly changing terrain, switching from steep metalled roads to flat tracks behind Gwernan lake, pitched steps up the Pony Path, and picking your way among the boulder fields on the final ascent........and then you've got to do it all in reverse!

Adventure Race South Africa

Many of you who visit the Chamwell Centre will know of (the always cheerful) Julie de Leeuw. Not only is she Chamwell’s Operations Manager, she’s also our in-house ‘pocket rocket’. When most of us are thinking of how we can spend our days away from work relaxing at home or with friends and family, Julie is planning her training schedule. You remember that day last week when it reached 2 degrees Celsius? Well, Julie had her day off and was out kayaking. “Sorry!”, she typed in her text – “my fingers are freezing, I can’t type properly I’m so cold after 40 miles of kayaking”. You see, Julie and her husband Anton are Adventure Racers.
