Chamwell Office Hours

Monday to Friday - 9am - 5pm

Centre Facilities - School Term Time

During school term time after school hours the Centre's facilities are open to Chamwell members for clinic, therapy and play sessions. We have lots of afterschool and Saturday inclusive sport activities you can join.

Monday to Friday - 4pm to 6pm

Saturday and Sunday - 10am to 5pm

During school holidays we offer 'stay-and-play' sessions as well as exciting clubs.

Monday to Friday - 10am to 6pm

Saturday and Sunday - 10am to 5pm

We are excited to announce that we will be working in partnership with Goals Beyond Grass and Gloucestershire Disability Fund to provide Inclusive Cycling at the Chamwell Centre.

We have a variety of bikes that can be used for all abilities so everybody can join in the fun. Please contact us by emailing admin@chamwellcentre.org.uk or bookings@chamwellcentre.org.uk to book your place or ask for more details.

First session starts on Saturday 18th June 2022.

Cader Idris Mountain Race

Ras y Gader, the Cader Idris mountain race, one of the toughest fell races in Wales, and viewed by many as a classic "must do" race. The event starts and finishes in the market town of Dolgellau, at sea level, and climbs almost 3000ft to the summit of Pen y Gader itself. One of the real challenges of the race is the constantly changing terrain, switching from steep metalled roads to flat tracks behind Gwernan lake, pitched steps up the Pony Path, and picking your way among the boulder fields on the final ascent........and then you've got to do it all in reverse!

Soundabout Choir

We're working towards our first ever performance at Worcester Cathedral in partnership with Worcestershire’s Inclusive Choir. The event will take place on the evening of Sunday 12th June at 6:30 pm - 7:15pm. We will be be learning a new song to perform at the event, which is Amazing Grace.

Many of you who visit the Chamwell Centre will know of (the always cheerful) Julie de Leeuw. Not only is she Chamwell’s Operations Manager, she’s also our in-house ‘pocket rocket’. When most of us are thinking of how we can spend our days away from work relaxing at home or with friends and family, Julie is planning her training schedule. You remember that day last week when it reached 2 degrees Celsius? Well, Julie had her day off and was out kayaking. “Sorry!”, she typed in her text – “my fingers are freezing, I can’t type properly I’m so cold after 40 miles of kayaking”. You see, Julie and her husband Anton are Adventure Racers.

Never heard of table cricket? No, we hadn’t either, but then Jeanette Tate - Disability Development Officer for Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation came to see us and suggested we run some taster sessions at Chamwell. Well, we couldn’t have been happier.

There will be games, including table cricket, Boccia, and interactive video games ...to name but a few. (Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to support those young people who have challenging behaviour, or who pose a ‘flight risk’).

Soundabout and Chamwell Inclusive Choir

Next session is on Saturday 11h June 2022. We will join our friends at Soundabout via zoom on the big screen in the Levinge Suite upstairs at Chamwell. We have musical instruments, enthusiasm and a huge screen. You don't need to be able to sing in tune or play a musical instrument - just have fun. On alternate Saturday afternoons the Chamwell Centre and national music education charity Soundabout host a new inclusive choir for children and young people of all abilities across Gloucestershire focused on ensuring young people with severe and profound learning disabilities are able to share their voice.

Boccia is a sport of intriguing tactics, incredible skill and nailbiting tension. Once you see it or play it you will be hooked! Come along on a Saturday afternoon and have a go. Boccia Beginners Club - learn new skills, make new friends.
