Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy or physical therapy attempts to treat what limits a person's ability to move and do things in their daily life, to improve their independence and quality of life.

Our team of physiotherapists will monitor and support the use of all our facilities. Individual or group sessions can be booked and visiting therapists, doctors and nurses can use the Centre’s two therapy and consulting rooms.

Benefits of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy led sessions, group or individual can be arranged upon request and following an assessment.

  • Hydrotherapy has so many benefits for by a wide spectrum of people; those with a disability or disabilities, those recovering from injury, those with mobility issues or those who have problems with movement. It is gentle movement or exercise in a warm water pool which helps to improve muscle function, can improve balance, and help ease aches and pains and encourage relaxation. The warmth at 33 degrees, allows tight muscles and tendons to relax and permits stretching of joints and limbs. It also relieves chronic pain, and the exercise improves cardiovascular and respiratory function. The weightlessness and support of the water allows freedom of movement to paralysed limbs and provides a force against which to exercise, to maintain muscle strength and tone.
  • The climbing wall develops different physical skills without feeling it is exercise.
  • The trampoline allows you to experience bounce and rhythm and is demanding on balance and keeping your body upright.
  • Frame Running or Race Running is a fantastic opportunity to experience speed for all those who struggle with walking. The frame holds you up safely so that you can focus on stepping, walking and running.
  • Boccia is a real team game requiring precision and technique, whether you are in a seated or standing position.
  • For children whose development has been delayed for any reason it is still important to be able to explore movement independently, to feel what gravity does to you, to become aware of different textures, structures, height and speed. Climbing up and down, swishing down a tunnel slide, swinging and twisting in the air – all these experiences help us to integrate sensations and develop our physical, emotional and social skills.
